Precision Nutrition and Health Foods
This special issue belongs to the section “Food Nutrition“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Precision nutrition aims to provide practical guidance to help patients improve their nutritional status and achieve positive health outcomes, while accounting for individual variability in dietary responses. With advances in genetics and metabolomics, along with age, sex, body composition, diet, and lifestyle factors, precision nutrition provides dynamic, personalized recommendations beyond population-based guidelines. However, this requires accurate data on food composition beyond energy, macronutrients, and micronutrients. Growing priorities include the food matrix, functional ingredients, and allergens, as well as determining bio-accessibility, bioavailability, and efficacy. Together, these advances are fostering the emergence of fields of study in nanotechnology applied to the food industry for developing novel, functional, nutraceutical foods optimized for each patient. This Special Issue focuses on precision nutrition, especially healthy foods designed for preventing or delaying cardiometabolic, renal, gastrointestinal, neurological, and other diseases. Our objective is to establish when, for whom, and under what conditions healthy foods and precision nutrition reliably offer preventive and therapeutic benefits.
