Therapeutic Approaches for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and the Study of Related Pathogenesis

This special issue belongs to the section “Neuropsychiatry“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a chronic psychiatric disorder associated with intrusive, recurrent thoughts and repetitive behaviors with high prevalence. However, the underlying pathogenesis of OCD remains not fully understood. It might be a complex genetic disorder and involve the neural circuits. According to the treatment guidelines in many countries, the first-line therapeutic approaches for OCD are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with exposure and response prevention (ERP) and/or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). The effort to seek better therapeutic approaches has never stopped in view of the limits of current treatments and the resistance of a proportion of OCD patients. For example, the research focuses on the treatment of refractory OCD. A series of studies on OCD also involve the therapeutic mechanisms and explore the objective biomarkers of efficacy prediction. This Special Issue invites original manuscripts involving all aspects of the research of therapeutic approaches for OCD and the study of related pathogenesis.
