Innovations in Pediatric Functional Neurosurgery

Dear Colleagues,

We invite researchers, clinicians, and experts to submit articles for an upcoming issue of Brain Sciences focused on “Innovations in Pediatric Functional Neurosurgery”. As advancements in disease mechanisms, neuromodulation, and minimally invasive techniques reshape this rapidly evolving field, we seek to highlight articles that enhance the surgical management of children with epilepsy, movement disorders, spasticity, self-injurious behaviors, and other conditions. We welcome original research, clinical series, technical perspectives, and review articles on topics including, but not limited to, the following:

• Advances in pediatric neuromodulatory therapies (e.g., DBS, VNS, RNS);
• Indications and techniques for MR-guided focused ultrasound and laser ablation therapy;
• Novel applications of brain–computer interfaces in pediatric neurosurgical care;
• Minimally invasive techniques for epilepsy, dystonia, and other indications;
• Translational articles examining pathophysiological disease mechanisms.

Selected articles will contribute to a growing body of literature aimed at improving surgical outcomes and quality of life for children with functional neurosurgical disorders. We look forward to your contributions to this dynamic field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Brain Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
