World Migratory Bird Day—“Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter!”, 10 October 2026
10 October is World Migratory Bird Day, an annual global campaign dedicated to raising awareness of migratory birds and the need for international cooperation for their conservation. The theme for 2026 is “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter!”. Migratory birds are critical to ecosystems—they disperse seeds, control pests, pollinate plants, and connect habitats across the world. However, habitat loss, climate change, and illegal hunting along migration routes are posing severe threats to migratory bird populations. Echoing the mission of protecting migratory birds and their flyways, established MDPI journals in Biology & Life Sciences serve as platforms for scientific communication, fostering collaboration and innovation in migratory bird conservation to tackle the global biodiversity crisis.
