Fractal and Fractional, Volume 10, Issue 1

2026 January - 73 articles

Cover Story: The fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) is a generalization of the Fourier transform. It has many applications in quantum mechanics, signal processing, and optics. The coupled fractional Fourier transform (CFrFT) introduces a two-dimensional fractional Fourier transform that is not a tensor product of two one-dimensional transforms. It has several applications, including a four-dimensional rotation of time–frequency models, such as the Wigner distribution. The paper presents a discrete version of the (CFrFT), which preserves the structure of the continuous transform and reduces to known discrete fractional Fourier transforms as special cases. The results are demonstrated by numerical examples and graphics. View this paper
