Cover Story: The Hybrid Wing Body (HWB) aircraft has been attracting increasing attention in recent years due to its superior high-speed cruise performance. However, conventional lift devices such as leading-edge slats and Fuller flaps face challenges when applied to this new layout aircraft. Based on existing research on blowing flow control, our study uses a half-mode model of an HWB layout with blowing slots on the leading and trailing edges of the main wing. We investigate the combined blowing lift enhancement scheme for the HWB via Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods and wind tunnel tests. This research explores the flow characteristics and mechanism of action under blowing control, providing new insights and methods to improve the overall performance of the HWB layout. View this paper
