Cover Story: Radiofrequency echographic multispectrometry (REMS) is emerging as a promising alternative for the early detection of osteoporosis in primary healthcare. In a Portuguese study, 86 participants underwent 172 bone mineral density tests, revealing a prevalence of bone fragility. The results strongly correlate with clinical diagnosis, confirming that REMS technology is an effective tool for assessing bone health. This technology is portable, does not use ionising radiation and is particularly suitable for young people, pregnant women and the elderly. The portability of the equipment facilitates the closer monitoring of users, improving access to diagnosis and adherence to treatment. View this paper
