Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Machine vision technology has emerged as a transformative force across numerous industries. As we stand at the intersection of computer vision, artificial intelligence, and industrial innovation, the field continues to evolve at a remarkable pace, offering new possibilities for solving complex real-world challenges.

This Special Issue, titled "State of the Art in Machine Vision Application Technology," aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest developments, methodologies, and applications in machine vision. Our goal is to bring together cutting-edge research and practical insights that showcase how machine vision is reshaping industries and enabling smarter, more efficient systems.

The purpose of this issue is twofold: first, to highlight innovative techniques and algorithms that push the boundaries of machine vision capabilities, and second, to explore their practical implementations across diverse domains—from autonomous systems and medical imaging to agricultural automation and smart manufacturing. By bridging the gap between theoretical advances and real-world applications, we seek to foster a deeper understanding of both current capabilities and future directions.

The scope of this Special Issue includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Advanced image processing and analysis methods;
  • AI-based approaches for machine vision;
  • 3D vision and spectral vision;
  • Vision-based multimodal sensing;
  • Real-time machine vision systems and embedded solutions;
  • Remote sensing techniques and applications;
  • Industrial inspection and quality control applications;
  • Vision-guided robotics and autonomous systems;
  • Medical image analysis and diagnostic tools;
  • Emerging vision techniques and applications in smart

We invite researchers, engineers, and industry practitioners to contribute their original research and review articles that address the current state and prospects of machine vision application technology. Through this collection, we hope to inspire further innovation and facilitate knowledge exchange within this dynamic and rapidly advancing field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
