Advances in Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Technology
This special issue belongs to the section "Circuit and Signal Processing".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Sensor arrays, consisting of multiple individual sensors arranged in spatial patterns that work collaboratively, are integral to modern technology. These systems are essential for gathering comprehensive data, identifying patterns, enabling spatial filtering, and providing output that is significantly richer than that of a single sensor.
Array systems, together with their associated multi-channel signal processing techniques, are crucial in a wide range of applications, including communications (5G/6G), radar, sonar, LiDAR, remote sensing, biomedical systems, smart devices, autonomous driving, and seismic monitoring.
Over the years, this technology has advanced in multiple directions: from the architecture—with the development of massive MIMO, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), and new sparse array designs—to enhanced processing with breakthroughs in adaptive beamforming and Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) estimation, including sophisticated techniques like genetic algorithms, deep-learning algorithms, and tensor-based array signal processing.
To further promote and document these advances, we are announcing a Special Issue dedicated to the latest research in this critical area.
We invite both original research and review articles aiming to address theoretical, algorithmic, and practical aspects of array design and array signal processing, including, but not limited to the following topics: both adaptive and learning-based beamforming; multichannel detection, estimation, and classification; distributed and cooperative sensing; spatiotemporal modelling and data fusion; massive MIMO and hybrid analogue–digital architectures; acoustic and RF imaging; and efficient or real-time implementations.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
