Stability and Optimization Design of Microgrid Systems
This special issue belongs to the section "Power Electronics".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The increasing proliferation of distributed energy resources, energy storage systems, and advanced power electronics has accelerated the development of microgrid systems as resilient and sustainable solutions for modern power networks. However, the inherent intermittency of renewable sources, complex control architectures, and multi-scale operational dynamics pose significant challenges to ensuring stable, reliable, and optimal microgrid performance.
This Special Issue focuses on recent advances in terms of the stability analysis, control strategies, and optimization design of microgrid systems. It highlights emerging methodologies for improving system robustness under variable operating conditions, including grid-connected and islanded modes. Our goal is to curate a diverse array of research contributions that elucidate and catalyze advancements and innovations within this vital sphere.
Themes worth exploring encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinated control of distributed generation units;
- Optimization techniques for microgrid operation and planning;
- Energy storage system optimization and management;
- Electric vehicle integration and charging optimization;
- AI/ML applications in microgrid optimization and control;
- Real-time optimization and predictive control strategies;
- Economic dispatch and energy market optimization;
- Energy management systems and demand response optimization;
- Resilience against disturbances and cyber-physical threats;
- Power quality optimization and harmonic control.
We invite the submission of original research articles and comprehensive reviews that uncover new dimensions, explore novel methodologies, or present insightful analyses within these areas. Through this collaborative endeavor, we aim to enrich our collective knowledge and foster innovative solutions for the challenges and opportunities inherent in the design and optimization of microgrid systems.
We eagerly anticipate the diverse and illuminating contributions that will enrich this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
