Signaling Pathways and Molecular Crosstalk in the Tumor Microenvironment
This special issue belongs to the section "Tumor Microenvironment".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce a call for submissions to a Special Issue of Cancers focusing on "Signaling Pathways and Molecular Crosstalk in the Tumor Microenvironment." The tumor microenvironment (TME) is a complex and dynamic ecosystem where constant communication between cancer cells, stromal cells, immune components and the extracellular matrix dictates the trajectory of disease progression. Understanding the intricate molecular networks and signaling pathways that govern this crosstalk is essential for the development of the next generation of cancer therapies.
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in our understanding of TME signaling, from fundamental molecular mechanisms to their clinical implications. We invite the submission of original research articles and reviews that explore the diverse facets of tumor–host interactions, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Intracellular and intercellular signaling pathways (e.g., EGF, TGF-β, Wnt, Notch, Hippo).
- Molecular crosstalk between tumor cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs).
- Immune evasion mechanisms and metabolic reprogramming within the TME.
- The role of regulatory proteins and transcription factors in modulating tumor behavior.
- Exosomal and non-coding RNA-mediated communication in the TME.
- Novel therapeutic targets and strategies to disrupt pro-tumorigenic signaling.
All submitted articles will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the highest scientific quality and relevance to the field. We encourage contributions from researchers and experts dedicated to the fields of molecular oncology, cell biology and translational cancer research.
By consolidating the latest findings in molecular crosstalk, we aim to enhance our collective knowledge of cancer biology and foster the discovery of personalized therapeutic approaches. Your valuable research will significantly contribute to the impact and success of this Special Issue.
Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We look forward to receiving your valuable submissions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
