Cover Story: Renewable energy integration is essential for sustainable, low-carbon smart grids. Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems offer scalability, environmental benefits, and lower costs, but intermittency, weather variations, and nonlinear loads can affect power quality, stability, and energy utilisation. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) maximises PV energy extraction, while advanced power flow control supports grid reliability. This study compares conventional, intelligent, and hybrid MPPT methods integrated with Predictive Power Flow Control (PPFC) for harmonic mitigation. A 3 MW PV–battery system is developed in MATLAB 2025b under varying conditions to assess efficiency, stability, power loss, and harmonic distortion. This study identifies the most effective MPPT method for renewable integration. View this paper
