Cover Story: We investigated heterometallic 15-MC-5 systems, derived from 5-methyl-2-pyrazinehydroxamic acid, with copper(II) ions on the rim and a lanthanide ion within the crown's dome. The CeCu5 metallacrown (MC-Ce), with the molecular formula [CeCu5(5mpzHA)5(NO3)(H2O)7]·2NO3·7H2O, exhibits metal–oxygen coordination bonds and undergoes thermal decomposition at relatively low temperatures. X-ray diffraction analysis of the decomposition residue revealed a mixture of cerium and copper oxides. Building upon these findings, nanocomposites were synthesized by the hydrothermal synthesis of MC-Ce crystals with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). PXRD analysis confirmed the formation of copper/cerium oxide particles, offering valuable insights into their potential functional applications. View this paper
