2026 August - 29 articles

Cover Story: After a hospital stay in Romania, patients receive a text message asking a simple question: how was your care? Since 2016, the national Patient Feedback Mechanism has gathered millions of these answers, including whether anyone asked them for money, and published the results every month. However, the data sat scattered across more than a hundred mismatched spreadsheets, making it effectively unusable for research. This paper brings a decade of patient voices together for the first time: a clean national time series, hospital-by-hospital detail across the whole country, all rebuilt from the checksummed original files with open, fully reproducible code. What was once a fragmented archive is now a transparent foundation for studying how patients experience care and how health systems earn their trust. View this paper
