Cover Story: This study compared the activity of cobalt and iron catalysts supported on SBA-15 with and without carbide phases and hydrogen reduction treatment in Fischer–Tropsch synthesis. The presence of carbide phases and hydrogen reduction affected the catalysts' behavior and product selectivity, resulting in an increased selectivity to liquid-phase products and production of longer-chain hydrocarbons. The study highlights the significance of carbide and metallic cobalt and iron formation in catalyst performance and product selectivity. The findings provide new insights into the role of carbide in Fischer–Tropsch synthesis. View this paper
