Cover Story: The organocatalytic synthesis of enantiomerically-enriched (R)-modafinil, accomplished with the chiral bifunctional BINOL-phosphate was developed. In addition, the successful application of a dipeptide-based ligand in the biomimetic non-heme iron-catalyzed sulfoxidation towards (R)-modafinil is shown. The desired compound could be obtained in both cases via sulfoxidation using H2O2 as an environmentally friendly oxidant. View the paper
