Dear Colleagues,
The rapid advancement of wireless communication, electronics, and radar systems has intensified the challenges of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and pollution, driving an urgent demand for high-performance electromagnetic wave absorbing and shielding materials. These materials are crucial for preserving device reliability, information security, and human health. This Special Issue, entitled "Electromagnetic Wave Absorbing and Shielding Materials: Mechanism, Design, Performance and Application," will compile cutting-edge research and reviews that address the fundamental and applied aspects of this dynamic field.
We welcome contributions that explore novel mechanisms of electromagnetic attenuation, including dielectric and magnetic losses, and structural designs such as metamaterials and porous architectures. A key focus of this Special Issue is the development of new materials, such as carbon-based composites, MXenes, polymers, and hybrids, with superior absorption strength, wide bandwidth, thin thickness, and multifunctionality. Studies on advanced characterization techniques, theoretical modeling, and the integration of absorbing/shielding properties with other functions such as thermal management or mechanical strength are also encouraged. We will provide a platform for sharing innovative strategies that push the boundaries of material performance for next-generation applications in aerospace, telecommunications, and wearable electronics.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
