Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

As editors of this Special Issue, we will like you to invite authors to publish research or review articles dealing with the laser processing of wood and polymeric materials, as well as the thermophysical characterization of wood and wood-based materials as insulation materials in green buildings. Other research areas cover the fire safety of materials and environmental impacts of wood and polymeric materials usage during their lifecycle. The research on laser cutting can cover the field of cutting kerf and heat-affected zone characterization, the measurement of surface roughness and laser effect on wood colour changes experimentally or combined by mathematical modelling or machine learning approaches. The field of materials for laser cutting can contain polymers, wood-based materials and 3D-printed polymeric materials. The measurement of thermophysical properties is also invited together with anisotropy and moisture effect studies. Moisture-related studies on the laser cutting of materials are more than welcomed.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
