Feature Studies in AI-Driven Neuroimaging
This special issue belongs to the section "Radiobiology and Nuclear Medicine".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Neuroimaging plays a central role in the diagnosis, monitoring and management of neurological conditions. Advances in artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning and deep learning, are rapidly reshaping how imaging data are acquired, processed and interpreted. These developments offer opportunities to improve diagnostic accuracy, workflow efficiency and clinical decision-making. At the same time, they raise important questions around reliability, interpretability and integration into real-world practice.
This Special Issue aims to bring together current research that examines how AI is being applied within neuroimaging and how these applications translate into clinical and research settings. The focus is on practical and clinically relevant contributions that move beyond technical performance to consider implementation, evaluation and impact.
We welcome original research articles and reviews that address, but are not limited to, the following areas:
- AI-assisted image acquisition, reconstruction and enhancement
- Automated detection, segmentation and classification of neurological conditions
- AI in stroke, neurodegeneration, oncology and brain injury imaging
- Validation, reproducibility and generalisability of AI models
By focusing on both innovation and application, this Special Issue aims to support the responsible integration of AI into neuroimaging and contribute to improved patient care and clinical practice.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Life is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
