Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Chronic, non-healing wounds constitute an increasing global healthcare concern, frequently exacerbated by aging populations and metabolic disorders. The development of novel therapeutic approaches is urgently needed, given that current clinical procedures often prove ineffective.
Natural bioactive substances derived from microorganisms, plants, and marine life hold significant clinical potential due to their inherent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and tissue-regenerating qualities. A crucial priority is identifying their exact biological targets, bridging the gap between clinical practice and pharmacological research.
This Special Issue aims to showcase the latest developments in the molecular processes of bioactive chemicals in wound healing.
We welcome contributions on the functional validation of natural bioactives, their effects on signaling pathways, and their modification of the wound microenvironment, among others.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Molecular mechanisms of bioactives in tissue regeneration;
- The modulation of inflammatory, oxidative, and metabolic pathways;
- In vitro and in vivo models for wound healing assessments;
- Innovative drug delivery systems for bioactive compounds.
