Dear Colleagues,
Biomarkers are fundamental to the advancement of precision medicine in cancer, offering significant potential for early diagnosis, prognostic evaluation, and therapeutic stratification. In recent years, cancer biomarker discovery has accelerated, driven by high-throughput technologies such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and single-cell and spatial omics. These approaches provide new insights into tumor heterogeneity and cancer biology, supporting personalized treatment strategies.
Despite numerous discoveries, a substantial translational gap remains, and only a limited number of candidate biomarkers reach clinical application. This bench-to-bedside process is challenged by insufficient validation across patient cohorts, difficulties in integrating complex multi-modal data, and limitations in reproducibility and clinical implementation. Addressing these challenges is essential for advancing biomarker-driven precision oncology.
Topics for this call for papers include but are not restricted to:
- Multi-omics approaches for cancer biomarker discovery and validation;
- Bioinformatics and machine learning methods for cancer diagnosis and prognosis;
- Single-cell and spatial omics analyses of tumor heterogeneity and the tumor microenvironment;
- Systems biology and network-based modeling for biomarker identification;
- Computational strategies for translating biomarkers into clinical decision-making;
- Artificial intelligenceādriven approaches for precision cancer medicine.
