Cross-Modal Learning and Dynamic Scene Analysis: New Advances in Semantic Alignment, Retrieval, and Prediction
This special issue belongs to the section "Electronic Multimedia".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid proliferation of heterogeneous multi-modal data, including vision, text, audio, and sequential sensory information, has underscored the critical need for advanced computational models that can unify semantic understanding and interpret dynamic real-world scenes. Traditional approaches often struggle with cross-modal discrepancies, temporal variations, and semantic inconsistencies, limiting their performance in practical, unconstrained environments. This Special Issue aims to present state-of-the-art theoretical, methodological, and applied research addressing the semantic correspondence and dynamic understanding across heterogeneous data modalities. It particularly emphasizes recent developments in cross-modal semantic alignment, efficient semantic retrieval, and accurate prediction in complex, time-varying real-world scenes.
We welcome high-quality original research articles, communications, and review papers covering innovative models, algorithms, and frameworks for cross-modal representation learning, dynamic scene understanding, multi-modal fusion, and temporal prediction. Relevant topics include cross-modal embedding and matching, dynamic semantic retrieval, sequential forecasting, video understanding, multi-modal reasoning, and real-world applications in autonomous systems, human–computer interaction, intelligent surveillance, and multimedia analysis.
By promoting interdisciplinary research at the intersection of machine learning, computer vision, and multimedia computing, this Special Issue seeks to advance robust and scalable intelligent systems capable of reliable semantic understanding and dynamic reasoning in realistic unconstrained environments.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
