Advances in Data Mining, Information Retrieval, and Information Extraction
This special issue belongs to the section "Computer Science & Engineering".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Recent advances in data mining, information retrieval, and information extraction are reshaping the way large-scale, heterogeneous, and multimodal data are processed and transformed into actionable knowledge. The rapid growth of deep learning, foundation models, graph-based methods, and intelligent data analytics has enabled new capabilities in semantic search, knowledge discovery, natural language understanding, recommender systems, and real-time decision support across a wide range of electronic and digital platforms. These developments are particularly significant for modern electronic systems, where efficient data processing, intelligent indexing, and scalable retrieval mechanisms are essential for performance, interoperability, and user-centered services.
This Special Issue of Electronics aims to present state-of-the-art research and emerging methodologies that advance the theory and applications of data mining, information retrieval, and information extraction. It seeks to bring together contributions addressing novel algorithms, hybrid AI approaches, domain-specific retrieval systems, edge and cloud implementations, multimodal and cross-lingual retrieval, explainable and trustworthy AI for search and analytics, and real-world applications in smart systems and digital infrastructures.
Original research articles and comprehensive reviews are welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, semantic and neural information retrieval, large language models for search and extraction, knowledge graphs, intelligent indexing and ranking, multimodal data mining, scalable and distributed analytics, privacy-preserving data mining, and applications in smart cities, healthcare, education, and cyber-physical systems.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
