Fault-Tolerant Electric Machine Drive Systems and Motor Control
This special issue belongs to the section “Industrial Electronics“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
With the rapid development of electrification in transportation, aerospace, renewable energy, industrial automation and other key fields, electric machine drive systems are facing increasingly stringent requirements for reliability, safety and continuous operation capacity. Fault-tolerant design and advanced motor control strategies have become core research directions to address the risks of system faults and improve operational robustness, attracting extensive attention from academia and industry worldwide.
This Special Issue aims to provide a high-level academic communication platform for global scholars, engineers and researchers engaged in the research of fault-tolerant electric machine drive systems and motor control. We welcome cutting-edge research achievements, innovative technical solutions and in-depth theoretical analyses that reflect the latest progress in this field and focus on promoting the transformation and application of fault-tolerant technology in practical engineering. This Issue will cover all aspects of fault-tolerant electric machine drive systems and motor control, with topics including, but not limited to, the following:
- Fault modeling, detection and isolation of electric machines (stator/rotor faults, demagnetization, eccentricity, broken bars, etc.);
- Fault diagnosis and tolerance strategies for power electronic converters in drive systems;
- Topology design and optimization of fault-tolerant electric machines (multiphase machines, open-end winding machines, hybrid rotor machines, etc.);
- Advanced fault-tolerant motor control algorithms (model predictive control, adaptive control, sliding mode control, etc.);
- Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance of electric machine drive systems;
- Application of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and big data in fault diagnosis and tolerance;
- Thermal management and reliability analysis of drive systems under faulty conditions;
- Sensorless fault-tolerant control technology for electric machines;
- Fault-tolerant drive system design for special fields (aerospace, electric vehicles, marine engineering, renewable energy, etc.);
- Experimental verification and prototype development of fault-tolerant drive systems;
- Performance evaluation and comparison of different fault-tolerant strategies;
- Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design of fault-tolerant drive systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
