Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the Special Issue on “Design and Application of Embedded and Cyber-Physical Systems”, which aims to bring together high-quality research and innovative developments in the design, modeling, implementation, and application of next-generation embedded and cyber-physical systems.

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) are at the intersection of computation, networking, and physical processes. Embedded systems form the technological core of CPSs, enabling intelligent sensing, control, and real-time decision making across diverse application domains.

This Special Issue seeks original research papers, comprehensive reviews, and case studies addressing advances in methodologies, architectures, algorithms, and applications that enhance the reliability, efficiency, and intelligence of CPSs.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Embedded systems design, optimization, and verification;
  • Real-time and distributed systems;
  • Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial IoT (IIoT);
  • Edge and fog computing for CPSs;
  • Control and automation systems;
  • Machine learning and AI for CPS design and monitoring;
  • Human–machine interaction and safety-critical CPSs;
  • Smart cities, smart healthcare, and intelligent transportation systems;
  • Energy-efficient and sustainable embedded architectures;
  • Security, privacy, and resilience in CPSs.

Connex Domains of CPSs:

This Special Issue also welcomes contributions from related domains, including the following:

  • Digital twins and simulation technologies;
  • Robotics and autonomous systems;
  • Sensor networks and embedded intelligence;
  • Cybersecurity in embedded environments;
  • Adaptive and self-organizing systems;
  • Hardware–software co-design.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
