Optimization in System and Software Engineering, IT Services, IoT, and Advanced Mobility Services

This special issue belongs to the section “Networks“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is becoming increasingly important to solve optimization problems for system and software engineering, IT service provision, IoT, and advanced mobility service provisions. In particular, there are many ways to utilize optimization techniques using big data, with artificial intelligence technology recently proposed; yet, the issue of diversity in optimization methods has become a big issue. First, in the field of system and software engineering, machine learning and deep learning algorithms using large amounts of training data are newly presented, increasing the efficiency of system and software utilization. In addition to operating the IoT system, it is necessary to solve the optimization problem in terms of IT software engineering, software development, software distribution, and management that can enrich human lives in the fourth industrial revolution era. Finally, optimization measures should be presented to wisely solve various pending issues to efficiently advance mobility services, which are a collection of next-generation convergence services. In line with these trends, this Special Issue seeks to recruit the latest articles that focus on optimization problems in various systems and software, including IT services and advanced mobility, using big data in the age of artificial intelligence.

In this Special Issue, it is recommended that the latest research results be collected and shared for the fields of system optimization, software engineering optimization, IT service provision, mobile communications, IoT, and advanced mobility services. Some specific topics include the following:

  • System engineering and optimization;
  • IoT system engineering and optimization;
  • IoT systems operation;
  • IoT services and network development;
  • Advanced wireless communications;
  • Software engineering and optimization;
  • IT or ICT services and strategies;
  • Mobile or wireless communication network, systems, and services;
  • Beyond 5G, 6G, and next-generation wireless communication networks, systems and services;
  • Advanced mobility systems, services, and operations, including micro-mobility systems;
  • Mobility management;
  • Location registration and paging algorithms;
  • The handover or handoff algorithm;
  • Big data analysis methods for system engineering and optimization;
  • AI technology for system engineering and optimization;
  • Optimization model for operational systems;
  • Heuristic optimization using big data analysis and AI technology.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
