Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) is a highly promising technology for 6G. Unlike traditional communication systems where wireless channels are uncontrollable, RIS can actively control propagation environments wirelessly, achieving real-time manipulation of the amplitude and phase of incident electromagnetic waves. However, in broadband wireless communication scenarios, the ability of reflecting units to adjust signal amplitude and phase shift is affected by the carrier frequency, making performance optimization more difficult than that in narrowband communication systems. Therefore, the research on RIS-empowered broadband wireless communication technology for future 6G has important theoretical significance and promising application prospects. This Special Issue aims to collect research results on RIS-aided 6G wireless communication systems.

The articles featured in this Special Issue cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to, the following:

  1. Theory and technology of RIS-assisted multi-carrier wireless communication;
  2. Resource optimization configuration for RIS-assisted wireless communication systems;
  3. Wireless communication assisted by new RISs (such as BD-RIS, STAR-RIS);
  4. Collaborative theory and technology for multiple RISs;
  5. Joint optimization design of active and passive RISs;
  6. Integration of RIS with other 6G key technologies (such as ISAC, new multiple access, near-field communication);
  7. Application of AI in RIS-assisted broadband wireless communication systems.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
