Advanced Multimedia Systems: Signal Processing, Intelligence, and Applications
This special issue belongs to the section “Electronic Multimedia“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Adanced multimedia systems are undergoing a transformative shift driven by breakthroughs in intelligent signal processing, multimodal learning, and real-time adaptive computing. With the rapid expansion of digital content, modern systems must integrate vision, audio, language, sensor data, and interactive media to deliver seamless, context-aware, and highly personalized user experiences. Future multimedia platforms will depend on robust algorithms capable of interpreting heterogeneous data, generating intelligent responses, and operating efficiently across distributed and resource-constrained environments.
This Special Issue aims to bring together cutting-edge research that advances the theory, methodology, and applications of next-generation multimedia systems. We invite contributions that explore intelligent signal processing, multimodal fusion, edge–cloud collaboration, generative media, immersive environments, and AI-enabled user interaction. Submissions may include new models, optimization strategies, datasets, architectures, or real-world applications in domains such as security, healthcare, entertainment, smart cities, autonomous systems, human–computer interaction, and communication networks.
We particularly welcome innovative approaches that address scalability, robustness, interoperability, ethical AI, and real-time performance in complex multimedia environments. Both theoretical advances and applied solutions demonstrating measurable impact are encouraged.
This Special Issue serves as a platform for researchers and practitioners to shape the future of intelligent multimedia systems and inspire the next generation of applications, interfaces, and experiences.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
