Cover Story: The temperature for the catalytic combustion of benzene decreases by using bimetallic Pd–Au catalysts supported over Yttria-doped CeO2. Comparison between Pd and Au monometallic and bimetallic catalysts has ascertained the synergistic effect of the two metals. The presence of yttrium, particularly when added by impregnation, contributes to a further increase of the support reducibility and consequent enhancement of the catalytic activity.
