Cover Story: In recent years, various cobalt-based bimetallic nanomaterials have been widely used in advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) due to their excellent catalytic activity and cycling stability. In this work, sea urchin-like NiCo2O4 catalysts were synthesized by hydrothermal and thermal treatments and used to activate PMS to degrade organic pollutants in water. The excellent catalytic activity of the sea urchin-like NiCo2O4 /PMS system is mainly attributed to the synergistic effect of Co2+-Co3+/Ni3+-Ni2+, which is the main reason for the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROSs). This study suggests that sea urchin-like NiCo2O4-activated PMS is a promising technology for environmental treatment and remediation in response to water pollution problems. View this paper
