Dear Colleagues,
Polymer-based fluorescent probes have emerged as a transformative class of sensing materials, combining the advantageous features of polymeric systems, such as structural tunability, processability, enhanced stability and signal amplification, with the high sensitivity and rapid response of fluorescence-based detection. These probes are widely used in environmental monitoring, biomedical diagnostics, food safety and chemical sensing for detecting a variety of analytes including metal ions, small organic molecules, gases and bioactive compounds.
This Special Issue showcases the latest advances in design, synthesis and applications, covering topics such as conjugated polymers, carbonized polymer dots, AIE-active polymers, stimuli-responsive probes, bioimaging, theranostics and point-of-care devices. Both original research and comprehensive reviews are welcome. By integrating multidisciplinary perspectives from polymer chemistry, materials science, analytical chemistry and biomedical engineering, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive platform for advancing fundamental understanding and practical deployment, while addressing challenges and future directions.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
