Plant–Endophyte Interactions and Bioactive Metabolites for Sustainable Crop Management

The plant–endophyte interaction is an emerging development in agricultural ecosystems. Endophytes, which are microorganisms that reside within plant tissues without causing any apparent disease, can promote plant growth, enhance stress resistance, and suppress pathogens through various mechanisms. These beneficial effects are largely attributed to the diverse array of bioactive metabolites produced by endophytes, including antibiotics, phytohormones, and signaling molecules that induce systemic resistance. This Special Issue aims to systematically explore the intrinsic mechanisms of plant–endophyte interactions, with a focus on elucidating the key functions of endophytic-derived bioactive metabolites in promoting plant health, enhancing nutrient utilization efficiency, and controlling diseases. This research direction not only provides theoretical breakthroughs in understanding plant–microbe symbiotic relationships but also offers feasible solutions for achieving environmentally friendly, sustainable crop management.

This Special Issue will focus on plant–endophyte interactions, especially beneficial bioactive metabolites, emphasizing their structural features, agricultural activity, mechanisms of action, and their role in plant–microbe symbiotic relationships. This issue will provide researchers with a platform to present their work and current knowledge on plant–endophyte interactions.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
