Nanoparticles Incorporating Natural Compounds as Drug Delivery Systems
This special issue belongs to the section "Pharmaceutical Technology".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Natural products are currently gaining interest in clinical prevention, diagnosis, and treatment due to their reported bioactivity. The high molecular diversity and novel biofunctionality demonstrated by natural, plant-derived products have also prompted the study of these products as drug delivery systems for several biomedical applications. Nanotechnology has enhanced the bioavailability, targeting, and controlled release of encapsulated natural products, enabling their therapeutic use. Novel formulations of natural products, including several types of nanoplatforms, have demonstrated superior efficacy and safety in vitro and in vivo. Flavonoids, terpenoids, polyphenols, and alkaloids are among the bioactive compounds being studied.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to our Special Issue “Nanoparticles Incorporating Natural Compounds as Drug Delivery Systems”. We are accepting original research articles and reviews focusing on nano-carriers and nano-drug delivery systems incorporating natural products to enhance their delivery, including research into the co-delivery of more than one natural product enhanced by a nanoplatform formulation. The evaluation of the developed systems by physicochemical, bioactivity, and biocompatibility tests, as well as clinical trials, will be included in this Special Issue. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following: Lipid nanoparticles, metallic nanoplatforms, hybrid nanosystems, oncology, wound healing, pharmaceutical technology, toxicology, etc.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Pharmaceuticals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
