Special Issue Information

Cannabis is increasingly recognized by society not only as one of the most widely used illegal substances but, more importantly, for its therapeutic potential. The approval of Δ9-THC and CBD-containing formulations by regulatory agencies like the FDA and EMA has led to an expansion of new pharmaceutical and other formulated products, broadening their biomedical applications. Alongside these medical advances, the growth of cannabis-based products is remarkable, reaching areas such as cosmetics, food products, supplements, and beverages.

The aim of this Special Issue is to update and report several aspects of the pharmaceutical applications of cannabinoids and their derivatives, focusing on important therapeutic areas such as the following:

  • delivery methods and novel formulations;
  • challenges concerning standardization and bioavailability;
  • psychoactive side effects, and drug–drug interactions;
  • applications in pain management, neurological and psychiatric disorders, dermatological applications, sleep disorders, etc.
