Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Biodegradable polymers have emerged as critical materials in the development of advanced drug delivery systems due to their biocompatibility, tunable degradation rates, and ability to deliver therapeutic agents in a controlled manner. As the demand for safer, more efficient, and environmentally sustainable pharmaceutical technologies grows, biodegradable polymers are gaining widespread attention across both academic research and industrial innovation.
This Special Issue aims to highlight the latest advancements in the design, characterization, and application of biodegradable polymers in drug delivery. We invite contributions that focus on novel polymer synthesis, intelligent formulation strategies, and performance optimization techniques that enhance therapeutic outcomes. Particular emphasis will be placed on studies exploring controlled release mechanisms, targeted delivery systems, polymer–drug interactions, and in vivo performance evaluation. Furthermore, the Special Issue welcomes interdisciplinary approaches that integrate polymer science, nanotechnology, pharmacokinetics, and biomedical engineering. Reviews that consolidate current knowledge or offer critical insights into regulatory challenges and future trends in the field are also encouraged.
By bringing together innovative research and expert perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to foster a deeper understanding of how biodegradable polymers can be engineered for next-generation drug delivery platforms. Researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals are invited to contribute their findings and help shape the future of this dynamic and impactful area of materials science.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Pharmaceuticals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
