Advanced Nano-Engineered Magnetic Materials and Hybrid Nanocomposites: Design, Properties and Emerging Applications
This special issue belongs to the section "Nanocomposite Materials".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Advanced nano-engineered magnetic materials and hybrid nanocomposites have emerged as key components in next-generation technologies due to their unique physicochemical properties and multifunctional capabilities. The integration of magnetic nanostructures with organic, inorganic, or polymeric matrices enables the development of materials with tailored electrical, magnetic, optical, and mechanical properties. Such systems are increasingly explored in applications including sensing, environmental remediation, energy conversion and storage, and biomedicine, where performance depends on precise control of composition, structure, and interfacial interactions at the nanoscale.
Recent advances in nanotechnology have significantly expanded design strategies for magnetic nanocomposites, including surface functionalization, hierarchical structuring, and hybridization with conductive or stimuli-responsive components. In particular, multifunctional hybrid systems combining magnetic nanoparticles with polymers, carbon-based nanomaterials, or inorganic matrices offer new opportunities for the development of smart and adaptive materials. These developments align with the interdisciplinary scope of Nanomaterials, covering both fundamental and applied research in nanomaterial synthesis, characterization, and applications.
This Special Issue aims to present recent advances in advanced nano-engineered magnetic materials and hybrid nanocomposites, focusing on design strategies, structure–property relationships, and emerging applications. Contributions addressing experimental and theoretical approaches are encouraged, particularly those involving innovative synthesis methods, advanced characterization techniques, and application-driven material development.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design and synthesis of magnetic nanomaterials and hybrid nanocomposites;
- Functionalization and interface engineering in nanocomposite systems;
- Polymer-based and conductive nanocomposites with magnetic components;
- Structure–property relationships and multiscale modeling;
- Magnetic nanomaterials for sensing, environmental, and energy applications;
- Multifunctional and stimuli-responsive hybrid systems;
- Advanced characterization techniques for nanostructured materials;
- Emerging applications in biomedicine, catalysis, and smart devices.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
