Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the rapid development of electronic information technology, excessive electromagnetic radiation is produced by increasing the amount of electronic devices and information transmission. A considerable proportion of electromagnetic radiation disrupts the normal operation of electronic equipment. More importantly, long-term or large amounts of electromagnetic radiation will endanger human health. Particularly, with the development of high technology, the task of electromagnetic radiation control has become more complicated. Therefore, it is particularly urgent to understand the mechanisms of interaction between electromagnetic waves and materials, take effective control measures, and complete systematic analysis to successfully shield or absorb incident electromagnetic waves through the control of the reflection and loss ability of the electromagnetic shield/absorbing materials. Therefore, the material synthesis, component regulation, microstructure adjustment, and design of composite materials are the main measures through which to achieve the purpose of reflecting or absorbing an incident electromagnetic wave. These are also the main solutions with which to eliminate the effects of electromagnetic waves on electronic devices and to protect human health from electromagnetic radiation.

This Special Issue, titled “Electromagnetic Shielding/Absorbing Materials: Preparation, Characterization and Applications”, will focus on the preparation, characterization, and application of electromagnetic interference-shielding materials and electromagnetic wave-absorbing materials from the theoretical to the practical level. Papers submitted should cover the methods and mechanisms of electromagnetic shielding and microwave absorption control, including areas such as chemical synthesis, chemical vapor deposition, sintering, resin-based coating, thermal spraying, electroless plating, sol-gel, etc.

Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
