Advances in Modeling and Analysis of Materials Processing
This special issue belongs to the section "Materials Simulation and Design".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The Special Issue on “Advances in Modeling and Analysis of Materials Processing” aims to provide recent developments in theoretical, computational and experimental approaches to materials processing. As recent manufacturing systems increasingly demand higher levels of precision, productivity and sustainability, the role of advanced modeling and analytical techniques has become more critical in the field of materials processing. In particular, the growing complexity of manufacturing processes requires the prediction of accurate interactions among material behavior, process conditions and final product performance, etc.
This Special Issue focuses on state-of-the-art methodology encompassing multi-physics and multi-scale modeling, data-driven methodology and process optimization strategy to better understand and control material behavior during the processing. For example, the integration of thermal, mechanical and microstructural phenomena plays an important role in the prediction of material behavior under various processing conditions. Therefore, advanced modeling and analysis methodology that can effectively couple various phenomena are necessary for improvement of complex manufacturing processes.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the numerical simulation of forming processes, microstructure evolution, thermo-mechanical coupling and the application of artificial intelligence in materials processing. These topics are expected to contribute to advancements in the development of more efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
