Dear Colleagues,
The field of biomaterials focuses on bioactive components that activate immune cells or different proteins in the body. Bioactive glasses are currently studied as promising biomaterials applicable in the field of restorative materials, mineralizing agents, implant coatings, pulp-capping materials, root canal treatments, and other biomedical uses due to their potential to mimic the composition of natural hard tissues. Thus, a fundamental understanding of the composition, structure, and properties of bioactive glasses is of major importance for their further development and application. Against this backdrop, studies utilizing experimental, computational, or combined approaches to better understand the behavior of bioactive glasses and to explore novel application areas in the field of dentistry are welcome in the present Special Issue.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
