Dear Colleagues,
Polymeric materials have become essential components in modern biomedical research due to their versatility, tunable physicochemical properties, and broad applicability in healthcare. Recent advances in polymer chemistry, nanotechnology, and materials engineering have enabled the development of sophisticated biomaterials capable of addressing current challenges in drug delivery, tissue regeneration, implant design, and personalized medicine. In parallel, nanostructured systems such as polymeric nanoparticles, nanogels, nanocomposites, and hybrid materials have emerged as powerful tools to improve therapeutic efficacy, enhance bioavailability, and provide controlled and targeted delivery of bioactive agents. The integration of advanced polymeric materials with nanoscale technologies is opening new opportunities for the development of multifunctional biomedical platforms.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the latest advances in the synthesis, characterization, and biomedical application of polymeric materials and nanostructured systems. Contributions addressing fundamental aspects of material design, physicochemical characterization, biological evaluation, and translational biomedical applications are particularly welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, polymer synthesis and functionalization, hydrogels, nanogels, polymeric nanoparticles, nanocomposite materials, stimuli-responsive systems, controlled drug delivery, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, biomedical coatings, implantable biomaterials, bioactive surfaces, and advanced characterization methodologies for biomedical materials. Original research articles, reviews, and communications are all encouraged.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
