Physical Activity, Exercise and Health: Implications for Clinical Practice
This special issue belongs to the section "Sports Medicine".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Physical activity and exercise are increasingly recognized as integral components of clinical care, with substantial evidence supporting their role in the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Nevertheless, important challenges remain in translating this growing evidence base into routine, individualized, and clinically meaningful practice. This Special Issue addresses the relevance of physical activity and exercise within contemporary clinical medicine and highlights their implications for patient-centered care.
The scope of this Special Issue encompasses original research and comprehensive reviews focusing on physiological, metabolic, and neurological responses to exercise, as well as methodological advances in assessment, prescription, and monitoring. Particular emphasis is placed on clinical populations, sex- and gender-specific responses, and real-world implementation challenges.
The primary objective is to bridge the gap between exercise science and clinical practice by providing robust, clinically applicable evidence to support safe, effective, and personalized exercise interventions. The contributions within this Special Issue will offer insights into mechanisms, outcomes, and translational strategies that can inform clinical decision-making.
Researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals are encouraged to engage with this Special Issue and contribute to the ongoing dialogue on integrating exercise into clinical medicine. Collectively, these works aim to advance clinical practice and reinforce the role of exercise as a cornerstone of modern healthcare.
