Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite submissions to the Special Issue entitled “Dentistry and Oral Surgery: Current Status and Future Prospects, 2nd Edition”. Following the success of the first edition, this Special Issue aims to provide an updated overview of the latest scientific and technological advances that are transforming modern dental medicine and oral surgery.
Over the past decade, dentistry has undergone a profound digital transformation. The integration of digital workflows, advanced imaging techniques, computer-assisted design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM), three-dimensional (3D) printing, and artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly improved diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning, and clinical outcomes. These innovations have facilitated the development of more predictable, minimally invasive, and patient-centered approaches, leading to reduced complications, shorter treatment times, and increased patient satisfaction.
Furthermore, emerging technologies such as teledentistry, virtual and augmented reality, robotic-assisted procedures, and machine learning algorithms are rapidly changing the way clinicians diagnose, plan, and deliver treatment. These advances are expected to further enhance precision and efficiency in oral surgery, implantology, prosthodontics, restorative dentistry, periodontology, and other dental disciplines.
This Special Issue aims to bring together clinicians, researchers, and scientists to present original research articles, systematic reviews, narrative reviews, and clinical studies addressing the current status and future directions of dental medicine and oral surgery. Particular attention will be given to interdisciplinary approaches, innovative technologies, and the translation of scientific discoveries into everyday clinical practice.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to, digital dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, dental implantology, prosthodontics, restorative dentistry, periodontology, computer-guided surgery, artificial intelligence and regenerative approaches.
We warmly invite you to contribute your latest findings and share your expertise in this rapidly evolving field. Through this Special Issue, we hope to stimulate scientific discussion, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and provide valuable insights into the future of dentistry and oral surgery.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
