Dentistry and Oral Surgery: Current Status and Future Prospects
This special issue belongs to the section “Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In recent years, a significant evolution has taken place in the clinical application of dental technology. Innovations in digital dentistry, teledentistry, dental materials, minimally invasive techniques, virtual reality in dentistry, computer-assisted designs, 3D printing and artificial intelligence (AI) are not mere technological trends; they represent a paradigm shift towards more patient-centred, efficient, and effective dental care. Modern procedures allow for a reduction in the number of complications, reduced treatment time, extended durability, and patient satisfaction. Most parts of dental medicine today are based on digital planning and computer-guided methods. Furthermore, the introduction of cutting-edge methods, such as robotics and artificial intelligence, into everyday procedures in oral surgery and dental medicine will likely speed up and facilitate most of today's diagnostic and treatment methods in the future.
