Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue, “Liposome-Related Nanotechnology and Lipid-Based Nanocarriers”, focuses on recent advances in the design, functionalization, and biomedical application of liposome-based nanosystems and other lipid drug carriers. Liposomes remain one of the most versatile and biocompatible nanocarriers, enabling precise delivery of therapeutic agents, improved pharmacokinetics, and reduced systemic toxicity. Other nanoscale delivery systems, such as lipid nanoparticles and nanostructured lipid carriers, have also undergone rapid progress in recent years in enhancing drug stability, targeting, and controlled release. The encapsulation of genetic therapies, vaccines, and biological drugs, including proteins, peptides, antibodies, and nucleic acids, protecting against degradation and enhancing cell delivery, is a field of a great relevance. Innovative techniques, such as surface modification and stimuli-responsive formulations, are also expanding the application of these carriers.
This Special Issue will compile academic research and reviews that improve our understanding of lipid nanocarrier performance, biocompatibility, and potential in pharmaceutical and biotechnological applications. Other related drug carriers, including niosomes, polymersomes, and micelles, will be considered for publication. Gathering state-of-the-art comprehensive reviews and innovative research will offer a comprehensive overview of the current state of and future directions in this field of study.
