Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Understanding the mechanisms by which plants adapt to biotic challenges remains a vibrant frontier in plant biology. In the face of escalating climate change and increasing pathogen pressures, unraveling how plants maintain cellular homeostasis and defend against microbial invasion has become crucial for ensuring global food security. Agricultural productivity is now severely threatened by complex interactions between climate extremes and pathogenic attacks, leading to substantial economic losses worldwide. Plants have evolved intricate and dynamic systems to detect, respond to, and mitigate pathogen threats, often involving finely tuned growth–defense trade-offs. The field of Plant-Pathogen Interaction is rapidly expanding, requiring multifaceted, interdisciplinary approaches to fully capture the complexity of host–pathogen interactions across different biological scales.

This Special Issue, entitled “Advanced Researches of Plant-Pathogen Interaction”, aims to showcase the latest advancements and emerging directions in molecular plant–pathogen interactions. It seeks to provide a comprehensive platform for cutting-edge research, fostering a deeper understanding of disease mechanisms and resistance strategies, as well as informing future crop protection and improvement efforts.

We encourage submissions that address, but are not limited to, the following topics: pathogen (viruses, nematodes, fungi, bacteria, etc.) virulence, plant perception and defense mechanisms, genome editing in plant pathology, molecular innovations in pathogen detection, secondary metabolism from host–microbe interactions, microbial secondary metabolites, antibiotic resistance in plant pathogens,
multi-omics approaches , transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene silencing technologies
as next-generation biopesticides, and nanotechnology.

We invite original research articles, reviews, and short communications that deliver novel insights into the molecular and physiological dimensions of plant pathology. Contributions that bridge fundamental discoveries with translational applications in breeding, crop protection, and sustainable agriculture are particularly welcome.

We look forward to your valuable contributions to this exciting Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
