Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Peptides represent a distinctive class of biomolecules that bridge the gap between small molecules and large proteins. Their significance spans multiple disciplines. In medicine, peptides play critical roles in oncology, endocrinology, and infectious diseases. Beyond pharmaceuticals, peptide applications are rapidly expanding into consumer health and veterinary fields. In skincare, bioactive peptides function as anti-aging and antioxidant ingredients. In nutrition, protein hydrolysates and specific bioactive peptides offer nutraceutical benefits such as supporting muscle health, regulating satiety, and modulating blood pressure. Likewise, in animal health, peptides are gaining attention as sustainable alternatives to growth-promoting antibiotics and as modulators of livestock immunity.
This Special Issue aims to gather high-quality original research and review articles that showcase recent discoveries, technological advances, and translational applications of peptides. Our goal is to create a comprehensive platform that connects fundamental science with practical innovation, highlighting peptide development, mechanisms of action, efficacy assessment, and safety evaluation across diverse models and applications. Ultimately, we seek to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and accelerate the advancement of next-generation peptide-based solutions for improving human and animal health and well-being.
We welcome submissions in the form of Original Research Articles, Comprehensive Reviews, Short Communications, and Perspective Articles on, but not limited to, the following themes:
Theme 1: Advances in Peptide Therapeutics & Medicine;
Theme 2: Peptide Research and Applications in Dermatology & Skincare;
Theme 3: Bioactive Peptides in Nutrition & Nutraceuticals;
Theme 4: Peptides in Animal Health and Veterinary Medicine;
Theme 5: Enabling Technologies & Fundamental Science.
We look forward to your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
