Advanced Molecular Research on Diabetes Pharmacology
This special issue belongs to the section "Molecular Pharmacology".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Diabetes mellitus is a long-term metabolic disorder which causes high blood sugar levels that cannot be regulated by the body due to problems with insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. This increasingly widespread global health problem is linked to serious health issues such as heart disease, kidney failure, neuropathy, and retinopathy. The increasing prevalence of diabetes, driven by lifestyle modifications, an aging demographic, and rising obesity rates, highlights the critical need for effective therapeutic interventions. Research in diabetes pharmacology is essential, as it seeks to enhance glycemic control, reduce the risk of long-term complications, and improve patients’ quality of life. The landscape of diabetes management is rapidly evolving due to the emergence of new drug classes and innovative treatment methodologies. However, continued scientific research in this area is critical for improving patient care and addressing the many health problems that arise as a result of this disease.
This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in diabetes pharmacology, with an emphasis on new drug development, novel treatment methods, and translating scientific discoveries into practice. It will showcase original research and extensive reviews that enhance our understanding of pharmacological interventions for diabetes management and their effects on patient outcomes. The subject matter is in line with the journal's focus on new research and developments in pharmacology, therapeutics, and other biomedical sciences. The Special Issue will appeal to researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals by encompassing both basic science and clinical applications.
Potential themes include (but are not limited to):
- Novel antidiabetic drug development and mechanisms of action.
- Advances in insulin therapy and delivery systems.
- SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists, and other emerging drug classes.
- Combination therapies and personalized medicine approaches in diabetes.
- Pharmacogenomics and individualized treatment strategies.
- Managing diabetes-related complications through pharmacological means.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
