State-of-the-Art Molecular Endocrinology and Metabolism in Turkey
This special issue belongs to the section "Molecular Endocrinology and Metabolism".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The field of molecular endocrinology and metabolism has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past decades. This transformation was driven by rapid advances in genomics, systems biology, and translational medicine. At its core, endocrinology explores the complex network of hormones and signaling pathways that regulate growth, energy balance, reproduction, and homeostasis, processes fundamental to human health and disease. Increasingly, the integration of molecular approaches has enabled a deeper understanding of endocrine disorders at the cellular and genetic levels, paving the way for precision diagnostics and targeted therapies.
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of advances in the molecular mechanisms underlying endocrine and metabolic regulation, with a particular emphasis on contributions from researchers based in Turkey or collaborative international efforts involving Turkish institutions. This issue seeks to bridge fundamental science and clinical practice by highlighting translational research that enhances our understanding of endocrine physiology and the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of metabolic diseases.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the upcoming Special Issue “State-of-the-Art Molecular Endocrinology and Metabolism in Turkey”. In this Special Issue, original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and high-quality narrative reviews are welcome . Submissions that integrate multidisciplinary approaches, including basic science, clinical research, and population-based studies, are particularly encouraged. This Special Issue aims to foster scientific exchange, promote collaboration, and highlight the growing impact of molecular endocrinology and metabolism research in Turkey within the global scientific community by bringing together cutting-edge research and expert perspectives.
The scope of this Special Issue encompasses a wide range of topics within molecular endocrinology and metabolism, including:
- Molecular and cellular mechanisms of hormone action and signaling pathways;
- Genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic approaches in endocrine research;
- Pathophysiology and molecular basis of metabolic disorders, including diabetes mellitus, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), and thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and gonadal disorders at the molecular level;
- Endocrine aspects of aging, reproduction, and growth;
- Interactions between metabolism and inflammation, immunity, and the gut microbiota;
- Endocrine disruptors and environmental influences on metabolic health;
- Biomarker discovery and validation for endocrine and metabolic diseases;
- Novel therapeutic targets, precision medicine approaches, and drug development in endocrinology;
- Advances in artificial intelligence and computational biology applied to endocrine and metabolic research.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
