Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathies: From Accurate Diagnosis to Novel Therapies

The prevalence of heart failure is steadily increasing, ringing alarms for an emerging epidemic that is not only associated with unpromising patient prognosis but also imposes a huge economic burden on healthcare systems worldwide. Although left ventricular ejection fraction remains the cornerstone of contemporary heart failure classification and therapeutic decision-making, accurate determination of the underlying etiology remains pivotal to ensure guideline-directed management and to enable the implementation of etiology-specific and targeted therapeutic strategies when indicated.

In this Special Issue, we will cover the entire spectrum of heart failure, irrespective of left ventricular ejection fraction, with a particular focus on the broad and continuously evolving field of cardiomyopathies across all phenotypes and etiologies.

Emphasis will be placed on recent advances and emerging concepts in diagnostics, risk stratification, prognostics, and therapeutic management of distinct cardiomyopathies, including—but not limited—to ischemic, dilated, restrictive, arrhythmogenic, and chemotherapy-induced forms.

Original articles, narrative reviews, and systematic reviews/meta-analyses are welcome.
