Diagnosis and Management of Gastrointestinal Neuroendocrine Tumors

Dear Colleagues,

Gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are un uncommon class of tumors, characterized by a controversial biological and clinical trend. Although, in most cases, these are benign submucosal lesions, in rare cases, they may cause a metastatic disease. The gastrointestinal tract is the most frequent site for the onset of NETs; the first site in terms of frequency is the small bowel, followed by the rectum. Most of these are indolent and incidentally diagnosed, particularly during a screening program; others are clinically defined by hormonal hyperproduction.

This Special Issue focuses on the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal NETs, exploring different diagnostic methods and identifying the most appropriate endoscopic treatment approach. We will also accept articles regarding other issues, such as other rare submucosal gastrointestinal lesions, or comparison of various available endoscopic treatments for gastrointestinal NETs.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
